Meet our 2011 Coaches

Jess Thompson

Welcome to the 2011 MSC Season! I look forward to working with all of you this summer. During the school year I work as a substitute teacher and hope to secure a full-time position this fall now that I have completed my Master's Degree in Special Education.

In addition, I am a certified as a Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard, and have my CPR/First Aid Certifications through Red Cross. I also work as a Swim Instructor at Franklin Regional for the Elementary School Swimming Program which has given me the opportunity to work with swimmers from all levels of ability and with many of the swimmers on MSC in a different capacity. And, this year was my second year coaching the Franklin Regional High School which was also very succesful!

Swimming has been part of my life for a long time, and I believe that the sport of swimming is one of the best sports for a child to be involved with growing up!

**I am available for privates swim lessons per your request and am flexible with my time.  You can email me at jlthompson1123@gmail.com or call me at 724-420-3533 to set up a lesson.

I am so excited to be returning for my third summer coaching MSC! Swimming has been a huge part of my life for a very long time and I can't wait to help our swimmers develop similar positive experiences. I swam for MSC for 10 years, FAST for 8 years, the Franklin Regional Middle School swim team for two years, and the high school varsity team for 4 years, where I was a four-time varsity letter winner and captain my senior year.

Aside from coaching, I just completed my sophomore year at Duquesne University, where I am majoring in athletic training and physical therapy. I will also be lifeguarding at MSC for the sixth summer.

Feel free to e-mail, call, or text message me any time with any questions or concerns you may have! I would love to help all of our swimmers improve this season and throughout the summer, so please call me if your swimmer is interested in private swim lessons! My e-mail address is chaffoa@duq.edu and my cell phone number is 412-378-3195. Go MSC!

My name is Chandler Johnson, and I am very excited about coaching on the swim team this season!  This is my first season on the team, and as a coach, my goals are provide a positive and fun experience for all the MSC athletes and continue the success of this swim club.

I swam for MSC for seven years, FAST for nine years, and have lettered all four years on the Franklin Regional Varsity swim team.  I have made three appearances in the WPIAL Championships for the FR Team and have made one appearance to the PIAA Championships during my junior year.  I was apart of the school record setting 400 Yard Freestyle Relay at Franklin Regional.  I also had the pleasure of swimming for Coach Jess Thompson during the varsity swim team's 2009-2010 season.

Apart from swimming, I also am a lifeguard at MSC.  This summer will mark my fifth year as an employee at the pool, and I have enjoyed every year I worked there.

I look forward to this season and to the future successes and memories that we will experience this summer.  If you need to contact me for any reason, my email address is Chandler.Johnson@fandm.edu.

Thanks,

Chandler

I am very excited to start my 1st season with MSC! I look forward to meeting you and working with you this summer. I have just completed a graduate program to receive my certificate in Elementary Education and hope to find a job in the area, as well as continue my coaching career with a swimming program.

My undergrad is from Duquesne University where I received a swimming scholarship.  I have enjoyed traveling the U.S. competing in numerous swimming competitions and truly enjoy the sport.  Swimming has not only provided me an education at a great school, but it has introduced me to the most amazing people that I’ll never forget!  This is a great sport to be involved in and you’ll enjoy the experience.
